Introduction:
Princess Flavia is the most beautiful, sweet, charming, attractive and lovable character of "The Prisoner of Zenda", created by Anthony Hope. She is graceful she talks it seems as if roses are blooming.

Appearance arid Character:
Princess Flavia is young, bewitching and decent lady. She possesses a number of virtues, Because of her attributes and sound character people of Ruritania love and admire her very much. They pay her great respect and honour. They are much pleased at the public announcement of her engagement with King Rudolf Elphberg. She is noble and kind-hearted woman.

Sober and Intelligent:
Princess Flavia is a wise lady. She knows the evil desires of Black Michael. She is well aware of the fact that he is not a good man. She knows that he wants to depose the king. She is very intelligent and keeps herself aloof from all sorts of intrigues and bad plots of Black Michael. This is why she advises Rudolf Rassendyll to be watchful of the tricks of Black Michael.
"Rudolf," she said, very low, "be careful, won’t you?" "Of what?"
"You know ---I can’t say. But think what your life is to ----"


A Lover:
Princes Flavia is a fair lady and the elements of love create more beauty and glamour in her personality. She loves Rassendyll not only as the King of Ruritania or as the Finance, but due to his character and attributes.
"If you were a convict in the prison of Strelsau you would be my King, "She said.

Dutiful:
Flavia is a dutiful woman. She is very faithful to her country. She knows the difference between love and duty. She loves her country and Rassendyll as well, but she sacrifices her love for the sake of her country. This aspect of her character shows that she is not a slave of her passions.
"If love were the only thing I could follow you in rags, if need to the world’s end; for you hold my heart in the hollow of your hand! But is love the only thing?"
She further says:
"Honour binds a woman too, Rudolf. My honour lies in being true to my country and my house. I don’t know why God had let me love you; but I know that I must stay."

The Most Superb Female Character:
There is no female character in the novel which could be compared with Flavia not only in respect of charm, beauty and enchantment but also in her devotion to obligations.

Conclusion:
The plot of the novel although revolves round the King and Rassendyll but they both revolve round Flavia. She holds a central position in the novel and it seems that all the activities accumulate round her. She holds the attention of the readers because of her beauty, duty and extraordinary virtues.
